cpr do's and don'ts Emergency Infant CPR DO's and DON"Ts DON'T...................................................... 1. Perform CPR unnecessarily 2. Perform infant CPR on anyone above the age of 12 months 3. Shake infant when checking for responsiveness (or ever) 4. Underextend or overextend infant's head (this may cut off the airway) 5. Pinch infan't nose closed when breathing for them 6.Leave infant's nose out in the open when breathing for them 7.Breath air from your lungs 8.Check for pulse at wrist 9. Use one whole hand or both hands when performing compressions 10. Press down more or less than 1/2 an inch while performing compressions. 11. Stop performing rescue efforts until at least 1 minute has passed 12. Continue trying rescue efforts on your own after 2 minutes 13. Stop performing rescue after callling 911 DO......................................................... 1. erform cpr on a VICTIM 2. rform infant CPR on victims 12 MONTHS AND UNDER 3. Pat infant's shoulders, feet and chest for responsiveness 4. Be sure that infant's head is in "sniffer position" (45* angle) 5. Be sure infant's nostrils are open 6. Cover infant's nose with your mouth 7. PUFF air from your CHEEKS 8. Check for pulse at BRACHIAL ARTERY (inside of upper arm)9. Use 2 fingers while performing compressions (about 1/2 a hand) 10. Press down 1/2 an inch while performing compressions 11. Perform rescue efforts for 1-2 minuted beforw calling 911 12. Call 911 after 2 minutes of rescue efforts on your own 13. Continue rescue efforts while help is on its way, checking for pulse EVERY MINUTE
