Emergency Infant CPR Instructions 1. Check for responsiveness by patting infant's shoulders, hands, or feet. 2.A-B-C... AIRWAY:the infant's head should be tilted in the "sniffer position" (45* angle)Do NOT overextend or underextend infant's head as this may close off the air way. BREATHING: cover infant's nose with your mouth and use gentle PUFFS from your CHEEKS, NOT YOUR LUNGS. CIRCULATION: check for responsiveness at brachial artery (inside upper arm), NOT at wrist. If there is no pulse, perform 5 compressions-2 fingers (1/2 the size of your hand), 1/2 an inch deep. 3. Perform rescue efforts for 1-2 minutes BEFORE calling 911. 4. Continue performing rescue efforts, cheching for pulse EVERY MINUTE UNTIL HELP ARRIVES. |
