Infant sleeping safety

a lot of people do not understand the importance of putting a baby to sleep in a crib. A lot of parents let their baby's fall asleep in their arms or on their chest, even in their beds. If i had a penny for how many people have said, "my daughter sleeps on my bed with me, she's not gonna die." It's not till it's too late when those type of people would recommand themselves and others to make sure their infant is sleeping in a crib. The importance is usually not recognized until something horrible happens. My friend once told me, "I never slept in a crib and I'm not dead!" I tried to explain to her that she could have been and that it was a chance of her life or death that her parents were taking a chance with. Most people laugh and say that something like that would never happen to their child. Some say they don't want to think negative and put thoughts about a child's early death into their heads. If you are a parent and you do not want to have those kinds of thoughts, than simply make sure your baby is sleeping in a crib, because that way you won't need to think about scary things as much when you know you are doing the right thing. A lot of my friends have babies that do not fall asleep well in their cribs. I know it' hard and annoying, but that's the pricw tha comes with having children, they want to sleep when they want, how they want and where they want. I had a daughter who died on my 17th birthday in her crib. babies can die anywhere and I am tired of hearing, "but babies die in their crib too." You know why? Because, if an infant can die in the place where they are most safe, than why risk their chances of death even more by letting them sleep in a place than is known to be dangerous. Babies can get suffocated when they are too close to or up against their parents. Woan who fall asleep with their child while breastfeeding may wake up to a shocking discovery: the baby's mouth is fillesd with your breast and during your sleep, you may eventually cover the baby's nose. It's a lot more than important than people think. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go throgh the tragic loss I had to go through.
